ABOUT US

The Association for Prevention of Infectious Diseases (BUHASDER) was founded in 2008 with the aim of conducting educational, preventive and therapeutic researches for the communicable diseases of the society and helping people who are at risk of infectious diseases. BUHASDER conducts research and vaccination studies with efforts particularly focusing on women, the young population, and individuals/groups who live in low-income conditions, such as the immigrants and refugees residing in Turkey. Estimated to be approximately 5 million people (The majority of them being Syrians under temporary protection) these immigrants use the territory as a bridge from their homeland to EU countries. Thus, Turkey provides –unfortunately- a rich platform for many researches of pandemics. Hence, BUHASDER undertook a leading role and organized the first “World Pandemic Conference” in Izmir on July 16th - 17th, 2021 (www.izmirwpc.org/en), with an aim to examine all aspects of the worldwide pandemic and reveal measures to fight potential epidemics in future. Experienced in organizing conferences, seminars, face-to-face meetings and trainings, BUHASDER has a broad network consisting of medical professionals, researchers, academicians, teachers, statisticians and social scientists. BUHASDER can easily reach out to at-risk populations thanks to its direct access to public and governmental organizations, municipalities, universities and NGOs in Turkey. Believing its crucial role the in efforts to increase pandemic preparedness in EU, BUHASDER is ready to be a partner organization in Horizon Europe projects to convey its sound expertise, experience and network.
